Getting traditional Maghreb dances out of the rut of commercial folklore where they are too often confined: this is Filipe Lourenço’s challenge. With Gouâl, he opens warrior-like and exclusively masculine Allawi dance to diversity and to the contemporary register to better feel and share its primordial energy.
